Rusah is awarded CKC TOP OBEDIENCE DOG in 2005Presented by Dogs in Canada Magazine. She placed FIRST in total points by BRT in
Canada and 2nd in Miscellaneous class.
Jean’s affection and fascination with the Black Russian Terriers started during her first encounter with 2 BRTs in Moscow in the
mid 70s when she was a young girl. It was a love from the first sight. The dogs looked like little black bears, powerful,
protective yet gentle. Jean was so impressed that she took a
picture of her younger brother
with the two of them.
In 2001 Jean started researching Canadian born and imported BRTs , visited a few breeders and conformation shows and made our
final choice. We brought home our first 6 week old female BRT pup in 2003. We named her Rusah. She instantly won the hearts
of all family and friends. Rusah started her training at 6 weeks of age. She entered her 1st conformation show when she was
only 3 and half months.

We were so impressed with Rusah, her temperament, working ability and show qualities that we decided to dedicate our time to
raising, training and breeding these magnificent dogs. We have registered our Midnight SOLO kennel, had our first litter of pups
and other BRTs have since joined our family.
Midnight Solo’s objective is to produce top quality, healthy, fun-loving Black Russian Terrier puppies with tons of attitude and
showmanship, which are a pleasure to live with as pets, make excellent working and show dogs.
Our BRTs are very important part of the family and are first and foremost well-loved pets. They receive the love, attention and
training that they require and deserve.
Check our Puppy section for more info on our breeding program and planned litters.
Our passion lies in a field of training.
It is a common assumption that most giant breeds and serious working dogs are not dogs for the first-time owner. It is quite
true – working group dogs require obedience training and a loving firm hand. Rusah is our first show and working dog. We had a
lot of help and support from our trainers Bernie and Lana VanPelt and Berendhaus Kennels
in selecting our first BRT Rusah, assessing our puppies for working quality and temperament. They were there for us in obedience
training, conformation rings, fun matches and trials we went to, as well as many other day-to-day issues dog owners/handlers face.
We strongly recommend finding a qualified trainer before you get your BRT.
You will be so thrilled to teach your Blackie – the sky is the limit with this breed! All you need is to dare and try.
